On the 25th, the Chinese Academy of Engineering released the 2025 guide to the additional election of academicians.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering is the highest academic title in engineering science and technology established by the state. In order to implement the spirit and relevant regulations on deepening the reform of the academician system, the Chinese Academy of Engineering will formulate a guide for the additional election of academicians in 2025 based on national strategic needs and discipline development layout.

The additional election of academicians adheres to the leadership of the Party, adheres to the "four aspects", adheres to quality first, highlights the national strategic demand orientation, highlights the development requirements of leading new quality productivity with scientific and technological innovation, and takes major contributions, academic level, and moral ethics as the criterion. It focuses on selecting academicians from scientific researchers who have been working on the front line of scientific research and engineering technology for a long time, and emphasizes the key areas, emerging disciplines, interdisciplinary disciplines, major national projects, major scientific research tasks and major scientific infrastructure construction that the country urgently needs.

1. Discipline directions for additional fields

Note: The interdisciplinary disciplines of each professional group include engineering management disciplines.

2. Quota allocation

The total number of additional candidates for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2025 is no more than 100, including 10 in the Department of Mechanical and Carrier Engineering, 10 in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering, 10 in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, 10 in the Department of Energy and Mining Engineering, 10 in the Department of Civil Engineering, Water Conservancy and Construction Engineering, 8 in the Department of Environment and Lightweight Engineering, 10 in the Department of Agriculture, and 12 in the Department of Medicine and Health (including 2 in Traditional Chinese Medicine); in addition, 7 places are used for candidates for special channels, 8 places are mainly used to support candidates for leading private science and technology enterprises, and 5 places are mainly used to support candidates who have worked in remote western regions (Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, 9 provinces, autonomous regions and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps). The quotas in the above three aspects are used in a coordinated manner.

The quota allocation plan for professional groups of each academic department will be appropriately adjusted based on valid candidates and selection situations.

3. Qualifications

Senior engineers, researchers, professors or experts with the same title who have made significant and creative achievements and contributions in engineering science and technology, love the motherland, have a decent academic style, good conduct, and have Chinese nationality, can be nominated as candidates.

"Making significant and creative achievements and contributions in engineering science and technology" mainly refers to: facing the world's scientific and technological frontiers, the main battlefield of the economy, the major needs of the country, and the lives and health of the people, candidates have made major inventions and creations in the field of engineering science and technology, and have significant application results; or creatively solve key scientific and technological problems and make significant contributions in the construction of major projects, major scientific research tasks and major scientific infrastructure; or be the founder and pioneer of important engineering science and technology fields. The above items include achievements and contributions made in cultivating engineering and scientific and technological talents.

"Academic style and upright" means that candidates should have the spirit of caring for the motherland, serving the people, pursuing truth, bravely climbing to the top, adhering to academic ethics, rigorously studying, being willing to be a stepping stone for others, and encouraging future generations.

"Fine conduct" mainly means that candidates should have excellent scientific ethics and academic style, good behavioral morality and correct work and lifestyle.
