American Samsung female general dismissed

The US Department of Defense confirmed on the 8th that Shawshana Chatfield, the U.S. Military Commission representative to NATO, has been dismissed. According to the US media, this is at least the ninth senior US military general who has "purged" since Trump returned to the White House in January this year.

Defense Secretary Peter Hegseyth "lost confidence in Chatfield's leadership" and was removed from his post as a representative of the U.S. Military Commission in NATO, DOD spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement.

The Washington Post reported that Chatfield received a notice of dismissal last weekend and that her position will be temporarily taken over by her NATO deputy, Brigadier General Sean Flynn, of the Army National Guard.

Chatfield is 59 years old and is one of the few female generals in the U.S. Navy. He was the dean of the U.S. Navy War Academy and the first female dean in the history of the academy.

According to people familiar with the matter, Chatfield's dismissal may be related to the Pentagon's actions to overturn relevant policies of the Biden administration after Trump took office.

Chatfield is the fourth female general of the U.S. military to be fired after Trump took office. Trump has previously removed three retired female generals, namely Navy Operations Secretary Lisa Franketti, Coast Guard Commander Linda Feigan, and Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense Jennifer Short.

According to NBC News on the 8th, the Trump administration is considering withdrawing 10,000 U.S. soldiers from Eastern Europe, which are part of the Biden administration's deployment in 2022.
