On the afternoon of April 9, Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, released a message on recent military issues.
Reporter: It is reported that Taiwan has received its first F-16V fighter jet from the United States, and 65 subsequent aircraft will be delivered before the end of 2026. Some analysts say the move is intended to counter the increasingly modernized air force in mainland China. What is the spokesperson’s comment?
Zhang Xiaogang: We have noticed the relevant reports. This is another double-standard bad record of the US betrayal of its serious political commitment, violating the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US joint communiqués, brutally interfering in China's internal affairs, and undermining the stability of the Taiwan Strait region. It should be emphasized that the US sale of military force to Taiwan cannot change the cross-strait military force trend, nor can it stop the historical trend of China's inevitable unification. The DPP authorities invested the tax money that should benefit the people into the bottomless pit that harmed and destroyed Taiwan, and tried to "rely rely on the United States to seek independence" and "resist the unification with force" which would only put Taiwan in danger of war and eventually lead to its own destruction.
