Meteorological monitoring shows that since May 12, high temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius have occurred in southern North China and the Huanghuai region of my country. Is the high temperature of 40 degrees Celsius coming? Is the high temperature abnormal in May? Experts conduct an analysis.
The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that from the 16th, high temperatures will occur in some areas of central and western Huanghuai, southern North China and other areas in my country. From the 19th to the 21st, the intensity of high temperatures will increase and the scope will be expanded. The daily maximum temperature in some areas of the Guanzhong Basin in Shaanxi, central and western Henan and other areas will reach 37-39 degrees Celsius, and locally 40 degrees Celsius.
Chen Tao, chief forecaster of the Central Meteorological Observatory, analyzed that the high temperature process lasts for a long time, has a strong intensity and a large range; it mainly affects central and western Huanghuai, southern North China and Guanzhong, Shaanxi, and the highest temperature in some areas will reach 35-37 degrees Celsius. Especially from the 19th to the 20th, the range of high temperatures will expand and the intensity will increase, and the maximum temperature in some areas in western Henan may exceed 40 degrees Celsius. The high temperature process is expected to last until around the 22nd.
Are there any abnormalities in the continuous high temperatures in May?
"From the monitoring data of the China Meteorological Administration, it is not accidental that the phased high temperatures occurred in North China to the Huanghuai region in May." Chen Tao said that the high temperature is the result of the joint action of atmospheric circulation and terrain conditions.
In terms of atmospheric circulation, the high altitudes from southern North China to the Huanghuai region are affected by the westerly winds and the low-level areas are controlled by warm and humid air masses. With the help of clear sky radiation, the near-ground temperature rises rapidly. From the perspective of terrain, after the airflow crosses the Taihang Mountains, it increases the temperature during the sinking process, further increasing the local temperature. Therefore, more obvious high temperatures will occur in Henan and southern Hebei.
May is the critical period for winter wheat grouting. The areas affected by the high temperature overlap with the winter wheat production areas. The high temperature may affect the development of wheat grains. Experts suggest that spring sowing areas should sow seeds while the soil is in the soil condition or irrigate in time to make water, use micro-spraying technology to replenish water to avoid flooding and irrigation to damage the crop root system, and manage the seedling stage of sowing fields to ensure that the seedlings are complete and strong.
