Multiply the number to build new competitive advantages

During the May Day holiday, two immersive boat trips were memorable.

In Beijing, board the boat from Blue Harbor Pier and walk slowly along the Liangma River. Thanks to 5G, digital light and shadow, VR and other technologies, rivers, lakes, bridges and scenery are integrated, and the international style and waterfront are fashionable and beautiful.

In Tianjin, starting from the pier of Haihe Ancient Cultural Street, neon lights reflect the waves and the night is romantic. When you return to the shore, you can also purchase Yongle Bridge digital collection and AR refrigerator stickers to unlock new ways to play.

Relying on digital technology, many places are "newly launched". In the Zhongshan Mausoleum Scenic Area in Nanjing, Jiangsu, the Digital Zhongshan Experience Hall activates history with "black technology"; in Fushan Country Park in Fuzhou, Fujian, the digital twin management platform, intelligent three-dimensional body measuring instrument, etc. are very eye-catching; in the Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area in Sichuan, the exoskeleton robot and drone delivery system provide tourists with smart services... The highlights of cultural and tourism consumption are reflected in the booming development of the digital economy.

This year coincides with the 10th anniversary of the promotion of the construction of Digital China. From "a strategic choice to seize the new round of scientific and technological revolution and new opportunities in industrial transformation" to "promoting the deep integration of digital technology and the real economy, empowering the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, giving birth to new industries, new business forms and new models, and constantly becoming stronger, better and bigger in my country's digital economy", reading the first volume of "Xi Jinping's Selected Economic Works" and having a deeper understanding of "developing the digital economy and seizing the commanding heights of future development".

In 10 years, the report card has been impressive, and my country's digital economy has remained the second largest in the world. The "Digital China Development Report (2024)" recently released shows that in 2024, my country's total data production increased by 25% year-on-year, the total computing power scale reached 280EFLOPS (10 billion times/second), and the number of mobile Internet of Things terminal users reached 2.656 billion. During the same period, 45,000 newly published generative artificial intelligence patents were issued worldwide, accounting for 61.5% of my country, witnessing the innovation of digital technology to a new level.

10 years means a new starting point. Only by explaining the achievements enough and explaining the problems thoroughly, and solving the targeted solution of "big but not strong, fast but not excellent" can we more effectively promote the high-quality development of the digital economy.

Coordinate and balance the two articles, digital industrialization and industrial digitalization.

Digital industrialization is the foundation of the development of the digital economy. Only when the digital industry is strong can we help other industries. For example, Beijing has leveraged its scientific and technological innovation advantages, built a source of artificial intelligence innovation, and promoted the construction of a national pilot zone for artificial intelligence innovation application. There are more than 2,400 artificial intelligence companies and core industries have revenue of more than 300 billion yuan. The layout of digital industries must be adapted to local conditions. We must neither rush to the top nor “select the basket full of vegetables”. We must firmly promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation.

Industrial digitalization is the main battlefield. Farmland is equipped with "smart brain", mines are unattended, and time-honored brands are transformed into digital production... Data empowers thousands of industries and releases the "multiplier effect". Grasping the direction of digitalization, networking and intelligence, promoting the integration of digital and realities, and collaborating on digital industrialization and industrial digitalization can continuously expand the connotation and extension of the real economy.

Two-way efforts are made to activate the two power sources of digital production and digital consumption.

Digital productivity has the characteristics of "new quality" and should be cultivated at a faster pace. The Kaos Industrial Internet Platform, a subsidiary of Haier Group, has served 160,000 companies, effectively solving the digital transformation problem of "cannot be transferred or cannot be transferred" by small and medium-sized enterprises. Dozens of humanoid robots have been "joined" by Geely Automobile Zekrch 5G smart factory, realizing multi-task collaborative operations such as sorting, handling and precision assembly in complex scenarios. From the supply side, stimulating digital productivity is conducive to providing more high-quality products.

To promote digital consumption, potential needs to be tapped. Avoiding "old wine in new bottles", leveraging artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence, etc., to create new consumption scenarios and new experiences, and can cultivate new growth points in consumption. At the same time, only by optimizing supervision, clearing old bottlenecks and solving new pain points can consumers be content to pay for digital consumption with peace of mind.

"Use both soft and hard" to make up for the two shortcomings of digital infrastructure and digital resource allocation.

Accelerate the strengthening of the "digital base". From a global perspective, my country has outstanding achievements in the construction of new infrastructure with digital infrastructure as the core. For example, as of the first quarter of this year, the intelligent computing scale of the eight major hub nodes of "East and West Calculation" accounted for more than 80% of the computing power scale. However, there are also problems such as unbalanced development between the eastern, central and western regions and between urban and rural areas. This requires targeting the crux of the problem, gathering resources to overcome difficulties, and effectively making up for shortcomings and strengthening weaknesses.

Digital resource allocation is also crucial. Not long ago, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Data Administration issued the "Key Points of Digital Economy Development Work in 2025", proposing seven key tasks, among which "accelerating the release of the value of data elements" ranked first. The more efficient and safe the data is circulated, the more it can release dividends. Promoting reforms such as market-oriented allocation of data elements and promoting the integration and utilization of data across subjects will provide new possibilities for data cooperation.

Multiply everything and enjoy the future. Building a digital China is an important engine for promoting Chinese-style modernization and a strong support for building new national competitive advantages. Let numbers light up a better life, there is great potential and worth looking forward to. (Li Haoran)
