my country successfully launches space computing satellite constellations

At 12:12 on May 14, Guoxing Aerospace and Zhijiang Laboratory worked together to use the Long March 2 D carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to successfully launch the world's first space computing satellite constellation. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the launch mission was a complete success.

The space computing satellite constellation is the first constellation of the "Star Computing" program initiated by Guoxing Aerospace, and is also the first constellation of the "Three-Body Computing Constellation" of Zhijiang Laboratory. The constellations launched this time include 12 computing satellites, equipped with a space-based model with 8 billion parameters, realizing "computing power to the sky, in-orbit networking, and model to the sky". They can process and infer L0-L4-level satellite data in orbit and perform in-orbit tasks such as laser access for different orbit satellites, astronomical observations, etc.

Usually, satellites need to transmit data back to the ground first, and then analyze it by the ground data processing center. This "sky-sensing and earth-calculation" model is limited by factors such as ground station resources and bandwidth. Less than one-tenth of the effective satellite data can be transmitted back to the ground, and there are problems such as poor data ageing.

The space computing satellite constellation will complete the on-orbit verification and application of space-based computing basic functions such as building chains, forming networks, and forming clouds in space computing systems, build a future computing power network, and realize the transformation from "day counting" to "day counting", meet the growing demand for real-time computing in space, and help my country be the first in the world to build space computing infrastructure.

"We want to build space computing constellations, send computing power to space, realize the interconnection between computing satellites, and then send artificial intelligence to heaven." said Wang Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of Zhijiang Laboratory. The construction of space computing satellite constellations will greatly expand the boundaries of space applications and have far-reaching significance for the transformation of the aerospace industry. In the future, ordinary people are expected to use the services brought by computing satellites, remote sensing satellites, etc. through this constellation.

In addition to computing and interconnection capabilities, the space computing satellite constellation satellite is also equipped with ground-based remote sensing payloads. With the help of onboard computing capabilities, real-time data processing will be realized, and "day calculations" will be explored and verified. By effectively reducing data transmission costs and time delays, data processing efficiency will be improved. At the same time, through the satellite spiritual realm engine, satellite three-dimensional digital twin data and application services can be provided for emergency safety, low-altitude economy, embodied intelligence, game culture and tourism industries.

According to reports, the constellation is provided by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Commercial Rocket Co., Ltd. as the general contractor. The Long March 2 D carrier rocket was developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. It is a two-stage carrier rocket with room temperature liquid. It has the ability to place single-star and multi-star launches with different orbit requirements. Its 700 kilometers of solar synchronous orbit carrying capacity is 1.3 tons.
