Wang Yi meets with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira

Xinhua News Agency, Rio de Janeiro, April 29 (Reporter Chen Weihua and Zhao Yan) On April 29 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira in Rio de Janeiro.

Wang Yi said that China-Pakistan relations are strong and strong, and the two heads of state have established solid mutual trust. In November last year, President Xi Jinping and President Lula jointly announced their cooperation to build a more just world and a more sustainable planet, opening a new chapter in China-Pakistan relations. The two sides also reached a consensus on the docking of the "Belt and Road" initiative with Brazil's development strategy, and drew up a new blueprint for practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries. China is willing to work with Brazil to deepen strategic mutual trust, communication and cooperation, and strive to build a closer, more mature, resilient, and more pragmatic and efficient China-Pakistan comprehensive strategic partnership.

Wang Yi congratulated Brazil on playing the role of the BRICS rotating presidency and actively promoting reform and improving global governance. He expressed that China will fully support the work of the Brazilian presidency, make the "Big BRICS cooperation", and make a stronger BRICS voice, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of southern countries around the world. As the largest developing country in the eastern and western hemispheres and an important member of the BRICS countries, China and Pakistan should also adhere to multilateralism, resist unilateral bullying, maintain free trade, oppose protectionism, and cannot allow the jungle law of the strong to survive.

Vieira said that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, the relationship between the two countries has developed at a high level and mutually beneficial cooperation has continuously achieved new results. President Xi Jinping's successful historic visit to Brazil last year has pushed the bilateral relations to a new level. Brazil is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with China and expand practical cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, aerospace, science and technology, and medical care. The current complex international situation has increased, and multilateralism and free trade have suffered severe impacts. It is necessary for Pakistan and China and the BRICS countries to strengthen unity and cooperation to jointly respond to global challenges.

The two sides exchanged views on China-Latin America cooperation and were willing to promote the fourth ministerial meeting of the upcoming China-Latin America Forum to achieve fruitful results and help build a community with a shared future between China and Latin America.
